Machine Shop

Our Machine Shop complex was originally established to service the geothermal industry. It has subsequently grown to service all aspects of hydro generation, down-hole measuring and general engineering throughout the Central North Island.

We have invested in significant machining and technology and have the largest, most advanced machinery and equipment on the Central Plateau. This includes a CNC 4-axis Vertical machining centre, a large capacity CNC Oil Country lathe, a CNC Y-axis Mill/Turn lathe and a dedicated CAD/Cam programming office.

The Top Turn lathe is capable of machining up to 1500mm diameter and able to support 10 tons between centres. The racking platform also allows for up to 10 meter long sections of tubulars to be supported within rollers while being machined.

This facility covers an area of 400m2 and has twin two ton gantry cranes servicing the total workshop. The Machine Shop has been certified by Telarc to ISO 9001 as well as achieving the API Q1 for the machining of API rotary shouldered and casing joints accreditation.

Along with a large variety of manual machines, the workshop also has a synchrowave welder and a gas-fired furnace (for stress relieving or heat treatment). It also has a clean facility constructed to allow the disassembly of precision assemblies. e.g. sealed bearing casings and mechanical seals. In addition to this equipment the on-site mechanical team has a well-equipped container to enable them to undertake all onsite mechanical repairs and overhauls.

Our Machine Shop team is fully trained and experienced in CNC programing and general machining, and has manufactured numerous complex components for various industries over 30 years.

Where required Inspection Test Records and detailed reports are completed and provided with the finished component. These are also filed by us for future reference. We trust that our in-house QA/QC procedures allow for confidence in the manufacturing process.
