MK26 Wellhead End-to-End Project
Project:
An engineering, procurement & construction (EPC) project to drill a new well, connect it, and supply two-phase geothermal fluid to the 113 MW binary geothermal power station at Mokai.
Objective:
The aim of this project is to provide extra fuel security for the Mokai geothermal power station.
MB Century’s Role:
For designing the new well, MK26, MB Century consulted with our partner, SAJJ Geothermal Limited for their well design engineering services. We then drilled the well using Rig32 and utilized our team for wireline testing and output testing. We collaborated with our partners, Halliburton NZ (cementing services, mud logging services, and directional drilling services) and General Compression Ltd (aerated drilling services) throughout the process as well.
Once we completed drilling the new well, we then conducted the design, procurement, construction, and commissioning of the new pipeline to the Mokai geothermal power station.
We also oversaw remedial sealing activities on a wellhead Casing Head Flange (CHF) connection and carried out well clearing activities using a portable test silencer.

Project outcome:
Mokai has been operational since 2000, and with the addition of this new well, MB Century will continue to support the Tuaropaki Power Company's operations here. This has been a stellar example of the diverse capabilities and services MB Century has to offer our clients.
